Volatile Phenol (VPH)
Water Quality Online Analyzer
Photoelectric Colorimetry Method
The determination of volatile phenols involves a precise two-stage process: distillation and colorimetric analysis. The water sample is first distilled under controlled conditions to isolate the phenolic compounds from potential interferences.
Once collected, the distillate is adjusted to a specific pH where the phenols react with 4-aminoantipyrine in the presence of an oxidant. This reaction produces a characteristic orange-red indole antipyrine complex. The intensity of this color is then measured using photoelectric colorimetry at a specific wavelength, allowing for the accurate calculation of the volatile phenol concentration in the sample.
